Bitch Creek Nymph
size 6, 8

Although Polly Rosborough designed this for trout, it is one of the finest smallmouth patterns we have. Fish it upstream dead drift or down and across stream with slow spurts. Equally effective for trout in sizes 10 and 12.

To us, this fly looks as bad as its name implies but the fish must see it differently! This nymph has given me some of my largest bass and trout. Fish it upstream dead drift or down and across stream with a slow pulsating action.

Damselfly Nymph

"Big fish go for big flies." If you agree with this theory then show this nymph to your big trout or bass feeding areas and expect the best. Excellent for trout in spring creeks and grassy areas of larger rivers and for bass in the slower parts of the rivers. Fish these down and across stream with a darting or crawling action. This fly is a size 8 (extra long-extra Heavy).

The grassbeds in our trout streams and lakes, and smallmouth rivers are loaded with these fellows and the fish feed on them all year. One of the largest bass I've ever seen caught on the Shenandoah River took this nymph, I carry a good supply of these in both my trout and bass vest. This fly only comes in size #10.

This is one of the most effective nymphs for all of our freestone trout streams. The color blend and style of the pattern closely mimic the majority of natural nymphs and the bead head improves the trouts' acceptance.

This is one of the finest nymphs for mountain streams during the first three months of the season. I developed this to mimic the emerging form of the real Quill Gordon insect, which it does exceptionally well. But its shaggy body and pulsating legs enable it to pass for a variety of aquatic insects.

Murray's Miracle Dark Stonefly Nymph
Size 12, 14

Watching Jack Sperry, one of the finest anglers in the country, catch great numbers of trout in very demanding conditions on the Professor made a believer of me. Effective in all types of water. Weighted with lead free wire.

This is excellent in freestone strerams from late-winter until June. Fish it dead drift below riffles and in the deep pools.  Weighted with lead free wire..

Murray's Magic Caddis Pupa, Tan
Size 12, 14

These nymphs are active in most streams longer than other nymphs. Fish these along the sides of the streams beside moss covered rocks and leaf jams from April until August. Weighted with lead free wire..

Many fine streams have very large populations of caddis and all of the trout feed heavily upon them. Fish these dead drift along the edges of the back eddies and corners of the pools. Weighted with lead free wire.

Cranefly Larva

Murray's Magic Caddis Pupa, Olive
Size 12, 14
For many years this heavy nymph has been my favorite fly for punching through the strong currents in the spring or whenever they occur. Our trout streams are loaded with this larva and the fish seldom pass them up. The fast runs and the edges of the riffles are loaded with various olive caddis. These are well weighted with lead free wire so you can fish them deeply in this heavy water.  There are many species of caddis which this matches so these are effective all season.

Bead Head Nymphs

I've used these throughout the country with great success and must admit they are the most productive nymphs I've found.
